THE GAME ITSELF
Players are formed into two even teams of three or five players on each team. Each team starts at opposing sides of a map, near what is called a "Nexus". To win a match, a team must destroy the opposing team's Nexus. To do so, each team must work through a series of towers called "turrets". Turrets are often placed along a path to each base often referred to as a "lane". Along the way, each player gains levels by killing the opposing team's "minions" (small NPCs that constantly spawn and attack the other team), and buy "items" to advance their character.

Mayhem everywhere you look BY VI The name’s Vi. I’m an enforcer. And this is my town - Piltover. They call this place the City of Progress - or they did until she showed up. Her name is Jinx. That’s what they call her, anyway. No one knows who she is, or where she came from. This scrawny pain in the neck shows up one day, firing heavy guns in the air. And laughing – always with the laugh. I can’t stand her. Everything changed the day she arrived in town. They might as well call it the City of Crime. Panic among the people. Chaos in the streets. Mayhem everywhere you look. The worst part is: none of it makes any sense. Ask her why she’s doing it, and she’ll give you a million different reasons. But the only one that matters is: She’s having fun. Piltover is just a plaything to her. She’s enjoying the time of her life, and she doesn’t care who gets hurt. Well, I’m here to shut down the party. It doesn’t matter what she wants. I don’t care what her sob story is. I’m gonna put her away for a long, long time. And right before I do, I promise you: I’m gonna wipe that stupid grin off her face. Permanently.

Mordekaiser is a being of pure, living agony on a mysterious dread quest. It is said that he was the first of the undead, existing before the Shadow Isles were a whispered threat. His true name and past lost to history, Mordekaiser is feared for his grim manipulation of pain –both his own, and that of others. Anguish fuels and sustains him, serving as his last connection to life, as well as his most effective weapon. In his enigmatic hunt, he's proven no one is safe, for even the most courageous souls have surrendered their secrets in his grasp. One girl witnessed and survived an encounter with pain's paladin. Late one night, the young mage-in-training was awoken by the sound of her master's tortured screams. Overcoming her fear, she charged into the library to find it a shattered ruin. There, she saw a hulking figure clad in a suit of armor that seemed fused to his body. It was clear the grim intruder was looking for something, and was displeased with the results. At the center of the once-majestic chamber, the armored fiend clutched her teacher's broken form. She overheard her master's final words – that he would die before he would give up his secrets. Mordekaiser laughed and said that even death was no escape, then snapped the master's neck with a sharp crack. Moments later, the horrified girl witnessed her master's spirit torn from his body. As if under some dark compulsion, the shade began to reveal all to his torturer and executioner. The girl fled, living to tell her story – should Mordekaiser come for you, even death itself will not keep you from his iron reach.

The Lore
The Journal of Justice is a collection of news articles which chronicles the events currently in motion on Runeterra. The Journal issues are divided into volumes.
The start of Season Two would have marked the start of Volume Two. It was put on hold while Riot researched other ways to convey the lore.[1] Ultimately it was removed from the client as Kitae was chosen as the new head of lore and she has removed all mentions of the League of Legends and the Institute of War through reworks of champions.
An Open Letter from the Editor-in-ChiefEdit
Senior Summoner Ralston Farnsley reporting from the Institute of War
Welcome, my fellow summoners, to the inauguration of the League's newest journal of news and commentary. Our intent with the Journal of Justice is to bring a unique perspective on the events that shape Runeterra directly to you: the summoners that make up the greatest organization that civilization has ever known.
There have been other chronicles such as this in the past, though they found themselves without such a noble and genuine purpose. Most journals lacked direction and clarity. For too long, we've had to separate the wheat from the chaff when it came to distilling information from our client city-states. With the Journal of Justice, you will receive accurate and thought-provoking information on events both great and small that you need to know about.
Most importantly, through your participation and patronage, you will help guide us in the direction we will take with this journal. Truly, this endeavor will be history in the making. You, the summoners, shape Runeterra's history in the Fields of Justice, and now you will also help to shape it here.
We have taken our first steps on a long journey together. There will be many changes and improvements the journal will undergo during this venture. I, for one, am excited to see where it all will lead us.
